Routine servicing

Routine hoist servicing is crucial for the safety and reliability of patient transfer equipment. Our annual services proactively prevent unexpected breakdowns by assessing the condition of vital components before they fail. Our skilled engineers perform a comprehensive inspection, checking for wear and tear on both visible and internal parts that are not typically seen during daily checks. This includes a detailed examination of the hoist’s frame, electrical systems and battery health (if applicable), along with functional checks of all moving parts.

Ensuring your hoists are regularly serviced to the manufacturer’s specification not only reduces the risk of an incident but also builds confidence among staff and users, guaranteeing optimal performance and safety. A proactive servicing regime is key to avoiding emergencies and maintaining a secure environment.

Emergency breakdowns

An equipment breakdown can be incredibly stressful and disruptive, especially when it involves vital patient transfer equipment. This is why we offer a rapid response service for emergency situations. Our team of qualified engineers operates across Tyne & Wear and the whole of Northumberland, providing an on-call service with a guaranteed 4-hour call-out time. Our average response time is even faster, at just one hour.

This commitment to a swift and reliable service demonstrates our dedication to the well-being of our clients and their patients. We understand that a non-functional hoist can leave a patient stranded in a bed or chair, creating an urgent and distressing situation. Our fast turnaround ensures that patients can be moved safely and with dignity, providing peace of mind and continuity of care with minimal downtime.

LOLER examinations

Under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), every piece of patient hoisting equipment is legally required to undergo a thorough examination every six months. This is a critical part of hoist servicing, and it is a separate requirement from routine maintenance. A LOLER examination is conducted by a competent person who thoroughly inspects all load-bearing components to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose. This includes checking for signs of wear, damage, or defects that could compromise the hoist’s integrity.

The importance of these examinations cannot be overstated, as they are essential for ensuring the safety of both the user and the operator, mitigating risk, and upholding legal compliance for all care providers. Our qualified engineers are fully trained and certified to carry out these essential LOLER examinations.
